HVM Crash Analysis Case Study:

HVM ImageDGA have developed, and validated, a series of finite element models which allow for the prediction of the efficacy of hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) assets undergoing a vehicular strike. The models range from relatively simple fast-running models (ie. the modelling of the vehicle is reduced in complexity) to models which predict the deformation of the vehicle in detail during impact.

Petrochemical Facilities Blast Analysis:

PetroChem ImageFor quite a number of years, assessments have been required to be made on the blast resistance of any occupied buildings, such as Control Rooms, in petrochemical facilities. DGA have been commissioned to demonstrate, via finite element analysis (FEA), that the design criteria may be met for a reinforced concrete or ISO container type of facility design subjected to a blast load.

FEA provides a more comprehensive prediction of non-linear dynamic effects than other techniques such as single degree of freedom methods. ANSYS Explicit is used for this purpose.

Structural Steel Framed Buildings Blast Analysis:

Steel Framed Buildings ImageSteel framed buildings range from multi-story buildings, to singular story structures and portal frames. DGA have decades of experience in assessing these structures under blast loading. Historically, engineers have been restricted to SDOF or MDOF analysis tools, however, rise in the use of finite element analysis (FEA) within the construction industry has meant that the ability to implement FEA can give rise to detailed analyses, value engineering and design optimisation. DGA have considerable experience in applying both implicit and explicit FE solver technologies to these building designs.
